"... As we were leaving, one of the ladies patted me on the shoulder. It took me a minute to process what she was saying because three ladies were all speaking Spanish to me at once. When my brain caught up to their words, I realized they were pointing emphatically at a little old lady in a wheelchair who was smiling from ear to ear. I had prayed for her physical health earlier as the Holy Spirit had directed me..." Mexico was amazing for the five days we were there. On the fifth day, we were preparing for an evening crusade when a government official informed us that we could not hold crusade meetings anymore due to precautions for the corona virus. But those five days were packed with the power of God. We were in poor, remote areas where outside missionaries or organizations rarely go. The pastors and Christians that we met were overflowing with gratitude that we came to support their work in the field.
On Monday evening we held a crusade in a small village outside of Cabada, Vera Cruz, Mexico. Pastor Luis is the itinerate minister there and when they have church services they meet in the village square as there is no church building. When I prayed about the evening service, I heard the Lord tell me “You’re going to be bold tonight, Sarah. Don’t back down. Preach a salvation message.” John 10:4 says “the sheep follow him for they know his voice.” That means that Christians don’t have to be directionless or confused. We can ask Jesus for help and we can know for sure that it’s his voice or the voice of a stranger that is speaking to us. I told the people how Jesus is the good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep (Jn 10:11). If He laid down his life, is there anything else he wouldn’t do for us? (Rom 8:32) All we have to do is open the door and let him in. That night a husband excitedly brought his wife to my mom and me because she wanted to receive Jesus. We used a tract to lead her in a prayer in Spanish, and by the end of they both had tears streaming down their faces as she believed in Jesus. My mom and I prayed for several others, and because of our lack of Spanish, we just asked the Holy Spirit to pray through us. I had prayed for her physical health earlier as the Holy Spirit had directed me. The one who had her hand on my shoulder said to me, “She couldn’t hear before, but now she can hear. She can hear!” The little old lady, still smiling, nodded and tugged on her earlobe. Praise God!
